Organization says YUP! and Adopts an entire town!!

Legendary professional football player turned community activist Dr. Joseph Profit, PhD along with the non-profit Youth United for Prosperity (YUP), recently visited the town of Lake Providence, Louisiana. The YUP organization donated $1,000 to take an alternative school in Lake Providence to a nearby prison as a part of a unique program similar to the "Scared Straight" programs that we all know so well. While there, it was shown that these kids were great individuals with smiles as bright as stars! They only needed proper guidance and mentorship. YUP representatives were so overwhelmed by the stories and situations surrounding these kids that they decided to adopt the entire town!

YUP is currently working with the mayor, local churches, local businesses and parks and recreations to discuss ways to steer the youth away from trouble. NFL Alumni Atlanta Chapter President, Joseph Profi,t PhD. knows their struggle all too well as he was one of the few that broke the mold in his youth. His outlets were hard work, football, school and finally business. He had strong family support and a steady stream of mentors around him, which eventually resulted in him being chosen as the #1 draft pick for the Atlanta Falcons in 1971. The state of Louisiana alone has produced several professional athletes, many from the same areas. Dr. Profit remembers those athletes coming back home to teach him and his friends the way to escape the "madness". Now with years of successful business ownership behind him and a team of supporters around him, Dr. Profit continues to give back to the community.
